New draft of EUROMAP 81 published

Optimized safety for machine connection

The new draft of the EUROMAP 81 specification provides a standardized hardware connection for the exchange of safety signals between two machines.

This interface can be used when non-safety-related signals are transmitted via other interfaces (e.g. OPC UA). An example use case would be the connection between an injection moulding machine and a robot.

The main change compared to the previous draft is the extension of the specification to two parts. This means that safety signals from two separate safety devices (e.g. front and rear side of the machine) can now be transmitted via one interface.

The draft is available for public review as a free download here (at “General”).
